Development of Evaluation Procedure for ACL-Reconstruction Rehabilitation Program-A Case Study
The purpose of this study was to development a comprehensive procedure to evaluate the progress of the ACL-reconstruction rehabilitation. A male basketball player(Age:25y/o, Height:178cm, Weight:78kg) with left knee ACL rupture was recruited in the present case study. Following measurements were performed:(1) isometric strength of knee extensor and flexor using Kin-Com system (2) proprioceptive test of knee joint using Kin-Com system (3) ROM of knee joint, and (4) circumference of thigh, three weeks after ACL-reconstruction surgical operation. Comparing to normal side(right side), significant impairment in muscular strength(↓75.03 % in extensor, ↓36.52 % in flexor), ROM (↓18.03 % ), circumference (↓4.42 % ), and proprioceptive function (↓81.71 % )of left knee were found. A rehabilitation program designed by sports medicine specialists and instructed by a trainer was well executed for 9 weeks. During the rehabilitation program, functional assessments described above have been made every 3 weeks. The results of this case study demonstrate that the comprehensive evaluation procedure is a powerful tool to detect the impairment of injury and to trace the improvement of functions after rehabilitation subjectively. The detail of the designed evaluation procedure and the progress of rehabilitation will be presented during this conference.
